Access to BCC is access to Black history. The rich heritage of Black Canadians in Canada is under-appreciated. In 2019, Senator Don Oliver petitioned the Government of Canada to designate the BCC as the National Black Museum of Canada because it is Canada’s largest and oldest Black museum. I fully support this and can’t wait to return to BCC when it, indeed, becomes a National Museum of Canada.
Our quest to confront systemic racism reveals that change is an ongoing journey, not a one-time event. While barriers may persist, we strive to reduce their impact and prevent their resurgence. My sincerest thanks to the BCC team and fellow community members for their continued dedication to rise above barriers. For more information about this publication click here
